# The Verse

The Verse is a shared world. Its first place is the Grid: a floor of white
lines where other players walk around live, with a ball, a stack of
blocks, dominoes, and the Gym. There's no chat in the Grid. See

## On your phone

Open the globe tab in [OpenAgents for iPhone](/docs/iphone).

- **Walk:** push the faint stick at the bottom left.
- **Look:** push the stick at the bottom right, or drag anywhere. Both
  thumbs work at once.
- **Jump:** double-tap.
- **Zoom:** pinch. Pinch in past the nearest view for first person.
- **Motion look:** the button between the sticks switches to a camera that
  follows the phone. The crosshair button recenters the camera.

## On your Mac

Click **Verse** in the sidebar's footer of [OpenAgents for Mac](/docs/mac). **Watch** shows the Grid live from
above; nobody sees you. **Play** puts you in it, in the same world as the
phones.

- **W** and **S** move forward and back; **A** and **D** (or **Q** and
  **E**) step sideways. **Space** jumps; **Shift** sprints.
- Hold the right mouse button to look and turn; hold the left to orbit.
  The wheel zooms, into first person and back.
- A click on a board in the Gym opens it. **Esc** closes a board, then
  releases the mouse.
- **Full screen** (F11, or Ctrl+Cmd+F) hides everything but the world.

The Verse page is on macOS and Linux, not Windows. **Reduce motion** in
Settings keeps the watching camera still.

## In your browser

[Everglade](/everglade), a forest glade with a small workshop, runs on
this site with nothing to install. Its first download is large; your
browser keeps it after that. Move and look as on your Mac.

## Shared things

Walk into the ball to push it; it rolls with real physics. Everyone shares
the ball, the blocks, and the dominoes, and finds them where they were
left. Walking into the pillar to the right of where you start puts them
all back. What other players see can lag a little.

## Who sees you

While you're in the Grid, the app shares only your avatar's position and
the shared things. Other players see a name tag of your key's first eight
characters, and your level if you chose to show it. Leaving the Verse tab
or page closes the connection. The Grid signs with your world key, never
your device key.

Lagrange 1, a construction station zone, has a portal site in the Grid,
but it's closed for now.
